The outgoing president of Harvard Law Review Michael I. Zuckerberg describes her as, "one of the most brilliant, thoughtful, and caring people" he has ever met. She is Imelme Umana and is a graduate of the Harvard's undergraduate program, and is in the Harvard Law School class of 2018. She is also reportedly a PhD candidate who, according to an article in Clutch, is “interested in the intersection between government and African American studies by exploring how stereotypes of black women are reproduced and reinforced in American political discourse.” Her ascent to this position is also a historic one as there has never in the one hundred and thirty year history of the Harvard Law Review been a black woman as its president. Barack Obama was the first black person to be president of Harvard Law Review back in 1990. She follows Adebayo Ogunlesi as the second Nigerian to head the esteemed publication. As its president she will function essentially as an editor in chief would, overseeing over 90 student editors plus permanent staff members who make up the Law Review.
