Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale Starring Samira Wiley to Debut as Part of Tribeca Film Festival L

The highly anticipated Hulu series, The Handmaid's Tale is set to debut on April 20th as part of the 16th Annual Tribeca Film Festival. Based on Margaret Atwood's acclaimed novel, The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of Gilead, a modern-day totalitarian society facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property. As one of the few fertile women, Offred (played by Moss) is forced into sexual servitude in a desperate attempt to repopulate the world. Samira Wiley (Orange Is The New Black) plays Moira, Offred’s friend from college who is also a handmaid. Series stars Wiley, Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) will all be in attendance in downtown Manhattan after the screening to field questions from moderator and audience. Wiley, a Julliard graduate rose to prominence and great popularity on the hit Netflix series Orange Is The New Black where she was a standout among an ensemble of standouts. She has most recently appeared on ABC's The Catch.
