The Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center will hold its Third Annual Gala on November 4th at 6PM. Named eponymously for the former lead dancer for the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and located in her hometown of Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn DSPAC is the culmination of lifelong dream after establishing the dance program at Oprah Winfrey’s academy for girls in South Africa. In addition to the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center Youth Ensemble, the Noel Pointer String Players will perform at the gala.

DSPAC, according to a statement from the organization, is meant not just to teach dance but to also to provide a place of artistic exchange and serve to empower and mold elite dancers and artists to develop, grow and compete on the world’s stage. The school offers dance programs for students ages 3-18. Classes include ballet, modern, tap, and African. Fiercely committed to create well-rounded young people, the school also has a library and offers a reading program for students.

In addition to the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center Youth Ensemble, the Noel Pointer String Players will perform at the gala.
